Coming later this week, London’s Palace Skateboards‘ latest collab comes in the form of fellow English brand Dr. Martens. The shoe made famous by punk rockers, skinheads, and for us, Matt Hensley, the “three-hole Docs” are specially colored up in three different ways with some added flare. “On April 11, Dr. Martens x Palace are dropping a new collaboration featuring three takes on DM’s classic 1461 silhouette. Each pair pays homage to the 1988 trend of attaching Grolsch swing-top bottle caps to the 1461s—a look made famous by Matt Goss of Bros, best known for the hit “When Will I Be Famous.” Each shoe is finished with a Palace-branded bottle cap lace charm in tribute.
Crafted from DM’s signature Vintage Smooth leather, the collection will be available in black, cherry red, and camo. The upper sits on a rugged BEN lug outsole, complete with the iconic yellow welt stitch. A standout detail: for the first time ever, the traditional “AirWair” heel loop has been replaced with “Palace.”
The launch is also accompanied by a short film—centered around the theme of waiting—featuring legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke, Palace skaters Charlie Birch and Lucien Clarke, and actor/model Serena Motola.
The Dr. Martens x Palace collaboration drops April 11 at palaceskateboards.com and in Palace retail stores. It will be available at drmartens.com on April 14 at 9AM PST.”
