Vans OTW—the premium, more experimental side of Vans—continues to push boundaries with the release of the new Old Skool 36 FM, dropping April 11. This reimagined classic basically took the DNA of the Old Skool 36 and turned it into something straight from the future.
Get a closer look below, along with all the nitty-gritty details on these tech-heavy kicks. They aren’t your average Vans shoes, but hey, I’m actually feeling these.

“Influenced by sound waves, frequencies, and vibrations, the Old Skool 36 FM is a bold evolution of the Old Skool 36,” Vans mentioned on Instagram.
“Featuring a lofted engineered-knit upper, molded rubber toe cap and heel, a reinterpreted waffle outsole echoing FM radio patterns, componentized cupsole construction, and a 3D-injected TPU structural Sidestripe.”

At first glance, these things look super interesting, to say the least. Again, this isn’t your average Vans shoe, but at the same time, they have branched out a lot over the past few years. All the MTE stuff. Running-inspired kicks. And honestly, every OTW drop is a unique and experimental, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
As far as the comments on the post, everything seems pretty positive—if not just curious. One person simply wrote, “Need.” Another chimed in with, “Can’t wait to get my hands/feet on these!” And a few people did ask, “Are these for skating?” Fair question—but either way, people seem stoked.
