Big tip of the hat to Raleigh’s Josh Sullivan and indyweek.com, which has a long-form story on this, but we always want to shed some light on local skate scenes, their DIYs, and skater-owned shops. Graveside DIY got the dozer treatment this past February, but it had already carved its name into North Carolina history.
As stated in the IG caption above and in indyweek.com‘s article, the skaters of Raleigh are now asking the city for a permission-based, permanent space to build their next DIY. Graveside had been going since 2016, but as the land changed hands to a building development company, the skatepark had to go this year.

The full story that indyweek.com thoroughly breaks down is at times heart-breaking, but as skaters building DIYs, we always know they’re not going to last forever.
