If you’re anywhere in or around North County San Diego this weekend, do yourself a favor and pull up to the one and only J. Grant Brittain’s free outdoor slideshow and photo show in Escondido on Saturday, April 19th at 7:30pm (show starts at 8pm).

“I will be giving an outdoor narrated Slideshow of my Skateboarding Photography at @thephotographerseyecollective in downtown Escondido this Saturday, April 19th starting at 7:30pm,” Grant mentioned on Instagram.
“I will be projecting the images on the side of a building and the event is free. Bring a chair, jacket and a blanket and I will have some posters available for purchase.”
Not only was Grant one of the founders of TransWorld SKATEboarding magazine in the 80s, but he’s still out there to this day getting down and dirty on the edges of pool coping, major contests, and random sessions at Poods all the same.
His photos have always captured moments—not just tricks—and he was right there on the front lines while this whole thing we know as skateboarding was evolving. To hear him talk about these timeless photos under the stars for a night seems like a pretty good time, if you ask me.

Say what you want, but skateboarding wouldn’t be what it is without people like Grant who were there to capture the raw energy of it all during that golden era. His photos are timeless—despite the era—and it’s always a treat seeing them neatly hung on gallery walls (or in this case, projected on the side of a wall).
Roll through. Grab your friends. Cozy up and get there! This is what it’s all about.
