Santa Cruz just dropped a rad new video featuring the legendary Steve Alba—an absolute icon in the skateboarding world, as far as most are concerned.
In fact, he’s still getting after it at 62 years old. Yep, you read that right—62 and still ripping around the deep end and slashing pool coping with more style and power than most skaters half his age. Think you’ll be doing the same in your sixties? Keep those fingers crossed and get some tricks and tips in the meantime from the man himself. Dive in:

Few skateboarders have held on tight to the soul and authenticity that this dude brings to the table. He’s been skating through basically every era of skateboarding’s evolution, and somehow, he still looks like he’s having just as much fun as he did decades ago. That’s priceless!
If you ask me, this is the kind of content that makes you want to get up, grab your board, and go find a pool—and I don’t even skate pools! Watching him rip around is one thing, too. Hearing the stories and his passion about pool skating is really what hits me the hardest, personally.

Also, I seriously can’t believe how flexible this dude is! That’s seriously unreal! But for as long as I can remember, he’s always been the guy to do that. So that opening quote that he hits us with at the beginning of the video is pure gold. Mic drop.
Salba is the epitome of a lifer. He’s one of the few pioneers out there who continue to prove that skateboarding has no age limit and no expiration date. Take care of yourself, stay stoked and keep ripping. Seems like a pretty basic formula, but if it was, there’d be a lot more Salbas out there. It takes a certain kind of skateboarder to keep the fire burning. Steve possesses that flame.
Welp, if you needed a reason to hit your local park, bust into a crusty pool or simply dust off the pads and charge, this is it. Salba’s still doing it. What’s your excuse?
